OTG Oven Safety Tips Every Home Baker Should Know

An OTG (Oven Toaster Griller) makes baking and grilling easy, but like any electrical appliance, it must be used safely. Whether you are baking cakes, grilling vegetables, or roasting chicken, following basic safety precautions ensures smooth operation and prevents accidents. Modern OTGs, including models from AGARO, are designed with safety features, but proper handling is still essential.
1. Place the OTG on a Stable, Heat-Resistant Surface
Always keep the OTG on a flat, stable countertop. Avoid placing it near water sources or on plastic or uneven surfaces. Ensure there is enough space around the OTG for proper airflow and heat ventilation.
2. Keep Proper Distance from Walls and Objects
OTGs generate external heat during operation. Maintain at least 4–6 inches of space around the appliance to prevent overheating and ensure safe heat dissipation.
3. Use Heat-Resistant Gloves
The door, tray, and accessories become extremely hot during use. Always use heat-resistant gloves or the provided tray handles when removing food to prevent burns.
4. Avoid Touching Heating Rods
Never touch the heating rods directly, even after switching off the OTG. Allow sufficient cooling time before cleaning or handling the interior.
5. Use OTG-Safe Utensils Only
Always use Silicone, metal, OTG-safe glass, or ceramic bakeware that are OTG safe. Avoid plastic containers or low-quality glass, as they can melt or crack under high temperatures.
6. Do Not Cover Air Vents
OTGs have ventilation openings to release heat. Blocking these vents can cause overheating and damage the appliance.
7. Keep Away from Water and Moisture
Never operate the OTG with wet hands or clean it while plugged in. Ensure the appliance is completely dry before using it again.
8. Switch Off and Unplug After Use
Once cooking is complete, switch off the OTG and unplug it. This prevents electrical risks and also helps extend the appliance’s life.
9. Allow the OTG to Cool Before Cleaning
Always wait until the OTG has cooled down completely before cleaning the interior or exterior surfaces.
Using an OTG safely is simple when you follow basic precautions. Proper placement, careful handling, and correct accessories help prevent accidents and ensure long-term performance. With safe usage habits, your OTG becomes a reliable and enjoyable appliance for everyday baking, grilling, and cooking.
